It feels like a ball and chain being dragged along with such tremendous difficulty, to be a person living in the world, specifically UK for me, and have such a passionate interest in politics, current affairs and the injustices being delivered by our elected government, accompanied by propaganda, media untruths and hatred.
I lived and worked through the years of the Thatcher rallying of her right wing media friends , yes, specifically you Mr Murdoch, as she attacked all the industries the country excelled in. She laid barren massive swathes of communities, people and future lives, condemning large numbers to emptiness, hopelessness and forced them into a dilemma of 'stand and fight for your job, community and people, or sit idly by' as they metaphorically shouted 'bring out your dead' as industry after industry was lost to private greed and capitalist 'tunnel vision'!
To add the insult onto the injustice of this political ideological assault on the workers, she had her lackeys jumping to her commands, Mr Tebbitt and his father's bicycle as anecdote, as they salivated to try to finally see off trade unions, removing the methods and defences they possessed, as we attempted to stand our ground and combat government attacks, while the government were ably assisted by the politicized police force.
Whilst all of this was being acted out against a backdrop of working people who simply wanted to be employed, work in industries for which the country was renowned, yet they were actually condemned and targeted by government and right wing media as work shy, shirkers, lefties , or responsible for their own community being despatched to nothing but a wasteland memory!
A police force now being seen for what it was, an organised mobilised and well rewarded ' state force' led by its govenmental 'generals', feeling immune from any questioning of dishonest practice or politically violent acts. This group knew it could alter and deceive through inaccurate 'recollections' of events, and with the assumed consent and disregard of the political masters, dominated by a mistress, nothing would ever come back to remind them of their deeds, activities and illegality.
Or so they thought at the time..
The one thing we all became very accustomed to in this period was the abuse, manipulation and politicization of statistics and figures that Herr Goebbels himself would have been proud of.
Recognise the political landscape when it comes to blaming the victims, targeting and scapegoating, using the media to push out misleading and dishonest figures, hammering the public sector and what it stands for, finally, slowly strangling the NHS of its lifesource in preparation for rich hedge funds, venture capitalists, private medical groups, some individual donors to political parties waiting to benefit?
We are seeing the greatest threat to the welfare state, the NHS and all of the services the 'real' people who live, breathe and struggle in this country have seen since its formation. Don't be conned into the 'all in this together' 'its for our own good' dishonesty'! If the Thatcher cabinet memo of 1982 showed anything it was that Tories hate and despise the welfare state and the NHS and would have attempted its demise back then, if they'd had the time and drive against the decimation of everything else!
It is and has always been about ideology and serves the philosophy of rabid right wingers like Daniel Hannan and others. They know what theyre about and they intend to get it!
The big differerence about 2013 is the attacks on the most vulnerable, sick, disabled and weakest. They have always used a'divide and rule' tactic, this lot, including the yellow libdems who have facilitated all of this, are no different. They are heartless in their cruelty to the weakest. Totally without compassion or empathy. Iain Duncan Smith has become the immoral guidance of this coalition, a man with so much christianity running through his veins, that he can happily dismiss the son of a man who has been 'killed from the stress of ATOS', with a cold and cowardly justification of the needs of ATOS and their 'expert' medical assessments. This man is the figurehead for the cold ideology of these heartless examples of 'just following orders'.
His is the face, his words are the ones that capture what they are about and where the people of this country are. You may not currently feel at the front of the queue as a victim of this man's hatred, you might believe you will get away with not bearing the brunt of anything he coldly justifies with flawed, manipulated figures. You may be so interested in yourself and driven by that that you will only wake up when you get the bang on the door!
I can assure you that it is happening now, to our services, to the weakest most vulnerable individuals and families in the country, to your NHS. They want the NHS so they can get the profitable areas, make as much money in some areas, reduce and remove the rest, strip the staff down to the bare minimum.
Look at the private rail system and utilities. how good an example they are of private competition and service leading to improved cheaper provision of rail or energy! Total nonsense, and they know it.
If we fail in achieving total opposition to the intentions of this hate, fail in recording major defeats and removing the false figures they use to hide behind, i personally fear for large numbers of the vulnerale sick old and disabled. I cannot bear to consider the ultimate implications of suicides, starvation and hypothermia. I can see the scourge of homelessness spreading and infecting all communities, we can imagine the result of such despair?
2013 began with fireworks in the London sky, a backdrop for all the tourist 'highlights' on show for a further page in Boris's CV. As i watched the screen, my mind was distracted to the foodbanks, the cold and despairing homes, the A+E departments being left to degenerate into chaos as waiting lists and disease increase.
FoodBank Britain, brought to you in less than 3 years, despair and fear, panic and anxiety, hopelessness and pain!
Iain Duncan Smith, the snarling, hateful face of FoodBank Britain.
